The Essay Competition is divided into three divisions, (1) Young Writers – ages below 16 years old: the essay is limited to 1000 to 2000 words, (2) College students and High school Juniors and Seniors – age 17 to 23: the essay is limited to 2000 to 3000 words, and (3) College Graduates and others: the essay is limited to 3000 to 4500 words. The best three papers from each group will be awarded 300 USD for the first place, 200 USD for the second place, and 100 USD for the third place.  Three to five honorable mentions in each group will also be chosen and awarded an accolade.

Baiyang Foundation Chinese Language Essay Competition

Purpose

To create an opportunity among students to better acquaint themselves with their culture and identity, while exercising their own capabilities in writing. At the same time exhibiting the Baiyang DaDow, including an open mind, a warm heart, and a bright perspective of the future, working towards the unity of people. Finally, to essentially promote a stronger bond between parent and child.

Other Important Items

1. The essay should be an original work by the participant and has not been published preceding this contest.

2. The Baiyang Foundation reserves the right to publish the essays in Baiyang Foundation related publications and post these essays on the Baiyang Website (www.baiyangfoundation.org and www.damingshan.org).

3. Each participant should submit a sheet of writer』s information that includes the title of the essay, competition group, name, age, permanent address, and a phone number that the Baiyang Foundation can reach you. Students need to also include their school and grade level and major for those college students/graduates.
