Damoa Gong #10 Turtle Breathing
- Move your left leg out to the left by a big step. Raise your arms to your sides to a 45 degree angle. Your palm should be facing the front. Open and spread your thumb.
- Start lower your upper body down toward the front. Grab the legs at about 3 inches above the top of the ankle bone (talus as depicted above). Your thumb should be pressing (massaging) the inside of the leg at the San-jin-jiao (Sp-6) acupuncture point.
- Breath from the lower diaphragm. Focus your eyes directly to the front. Push your neck out as far as possible.
- Hold your breath for 5 seconds. Return to your original posture while exhaling.
- Relax the body as you are breathing out. Repeat this 12 times.
- Warning: Do not overextend the backward bowing at the knee, risking injury.
Benefits
This form is great for chronic back and waist pain. The massage of the San-jin-jiao (Sp-6) acupuncture point is beneficial to the kidneys, urinary system, prostate, and especially to ovary and uterus.
